Ground Breaking Ceremony by Kofi Annan

On Monday, April 12, 2010 Raindrop Turkish House was the home to an important event. Invited by the Gulen Institute, Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations between 1997 and 2006, visited Turquoise Center. Turquoise center also hosted Texas State Representative Dr. Alma Allen, Mississippi Senators Hilmann Frazier and Hank Zuber. After the Turquoise tour, Raindrop Turkish House President, Mehmet Okumus, gave a brief presentation about next years’ building expansion project to the distinguished guests. The program was continued with the Turkish Folk dance performance from Houston Folk Dance team. The visit was over with the ground breaking ceremony of New Turkic Culture Center building.
